The Dreaded “D” word! Dieting! This is going to become my diet journey, so it’s about to get real! Follow along as I struggle with this journey……and join me, if you’d like! It’s more fun with company!
Diet Journey
Yep….at it again! This may be my venting place…..my accountability place, too! I know it is supposed to be a life style change, not a diet, but old school is, and always has been, me! The need to lose is weighing heavy on me right now! (Did you catch that pun?) I need to lose for my health AND for my well being!
One of the things I have learned in the past is to write down every single thing you eat, to hold yourself accountable. I’m not going THAT far in here, but I AM going to be real in what I’m doing, and how I’m doing. I will not be posting starting numbers, or finishing numbers either. But I will share total loss, only because that’s part of the accountability!
Not my first rodeo!
I have tried many times to lose weight….too many to even count! I have always thought I was fat! Even at 120 lbs! Mainly, I got in to the comparison trap……thinking I was “fat” because SHE weighed 100, or she wore a size 2…..and I was a 9! Low self esteem just added fuel to the fire! I have even succeeded to lose! I just haven’t been able to keep it off! So yes, I know what to do to get it off!
Diet and Exercise
The 2 keys!

It’s so important to track what you eat….and your exercise! So sit down with a cup of coffee, and write it down!
Dieting has to come first for me! For me, it is a constant struggle! I LOVE food! But not the right kinds! Vegetables! YUCK! Meat! Pretty much the same thing! But give me a container of ice cream, a cake, a bag of cookies…..BAM!!! Gone in 60 seconds! And talk about a double whammy…..I am an emotional eater! Happy….let’s celebrate with food! Depressed…..grab that candy bar (read as the whole bag)! Mad…..look out! Stressed? Need I say more?!
Then there’s exercise! My day job consisted of walking constantly! One week, I carried my phone all day (not allowed, but I had an emergency situation, so I did…oops). It has a step counter on it (most do these days). My steps ranged from 22000 to 28000 that week! Wouldn’t you think that would be enough exercise for a day! In all honesty though, that is probably why I didn’t GAIN weight!
Now, I’m not working, and it shows!
So, diet #18764727547828 starts TODAY! Hopefully it will be my last one, too! Now that I’m getting older, well, technically we all are, but you know what I mean, there are more reasons to lose the weight than ever! Diabetes runs in my family, so does heart disease! Wouldn’t you think those would be enough reason to do it?! But yet, the struggle is real!
When we get older, it gets harder to lose the weight! It also gets harder to exercise. But both are necessary to be successful in losing AND keeping it off! Simple fix, consume less calories than what I burn off!
Yep! And I can do this! And I WILL do this! For ME!!
Weight Watchers
The one diet plan that I was actually successful with was Weight Watchers. So that is what I will be doing this time around. It is the one plan that allows me to eat the way I eat, what I want to eat, without forcing myself to eat foods I can’t stand! While I can eat some vegetables and meat, neither one of them is something I enjoy! And I don’t want to be forced to eat something that I don’t like, even if it is the healthier choice.
But that being said, that makes it even harder for me to lose, because I’m not filling up on protein and vegetables, but starches and fruit, with small amounts of protein and vegetables. I love an occasional salad, but not if I have to eat them every day! Give me the starchy veggies, like corn and lima beans, and potatoes!
Exercise
My main exercise will be walking, because it’s something I enjoy! And enjoying exercise is key to continue doing it! I also have quite a few DVD’s that I will be doing, mostly when the weather or timing messes with the outdoor walking. I just purchased Body Groove, and plan on doing that, too!
Starting Here
So this is me today! I am not good at taking pictures of myself, but I will try to do more, since I am on this journey! Maybe, in time, I will actually be able to see a difference!
