Chalk Couture has it all!
Chalk Couture is so much more than chalk. Of course, chalk paste is an important part of your project, but so is the surface you put it on. Chalkboards are available in different sizes and shapes. Or buy your own….or make one, if you prefer! The possibilities are endless! Just an FYI, this particular chalk board was purchased at Hobby Lobby. They have a big selection to choose from, too.
You can easily remove the chalk paste, so you can reuse the same surface with a different design. And this is the perfect solution for something you aren’t completely happy with. Clean the whole thing off and start over, or just redo the part you don’t like.
To clean it off, just use a wet paper towel, or a Lysol or Clorox wipe. It does come off easier while it’s still wet, but you can remove it months later, too. If you prefer a permanent finish, spray it with a clear protective finish. Any clear spray paint works. I prefer a matte finish, but glossy works, too. It’s all a personal preference!
Not just for wood!
There is also Chalk Couture Ink. Chalk Couture ink is permanent once it has dried or has been heat set. The ink is perfect for glass or ceramic, or on pillows or clothing. If you’re applying on glass or ceramic, make sure it is completely dry, then test wash it. Some items will need to be hand washed. The mugs I did were baked in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes to heat set them, then allowed to cool. Ceramic and glass are not porous, like wood, so allow enough time for it to dry completely! In a worse case scenario, you just take it off and start over. It took me a few tries to get mine to stay put, so just experiment and be patient.
If you are putting a design on a shirt or pillow, allow it enough time to dry, then iron it before washing. It should last a long time with proper care.
