Last Minute Gift Ideas, anyone? Or maybe not! You early shoppers may not need this, but procrastinators like me, just might! So read on!
Last Minute Gift Ideas
So, you’re all done shopping! Hooray! Everything’s wrapped, cookies are baked, house is decorated! Now all you have to do is sit back and wait! Stress free! Am I right?
Since I’m all prepared, I might as well get out my list, just to double check if I missed anything! Hubby, significant other, life partner…..check! All of the kids are done! Now all I have to do is keep them out of them until Christmas! Easy Peasy! Mom and Dad….done! Teacher! Wait! What? Oh no! Now what!? What about the bus driver, or mail person? Or your hairdresser? Are they all done, too!
Now don’t get me wrong! I’m not saying you have to go out and buy all these things! It’s just a way to show your appreciation for what they do for you everyday! But it doesn’t have to break you, or stress you, either!
Here are a few ideas!
My mom was a bus driver, so I saw a lot of different gifts given to her! All of them were appreciated by her, and she always felt special when she received them! And no, she didn’t get from everyone, and that was okay, too! Think of getting 100 – 150 gifts! Wow!
I remember her getting oven mitts, pins, pens, plants, gift cards, and just a simple thank you card! So I’m going to expand on some of these!
Any oven mitt will do for this one! If you can find a Christmas one, then by all means, go for it! But it could also be a neutral color, unless, of course, you know what color their kitchen is! Use your imagination! Fill it with brownie mix, cookie mix, dish towels (matching ones, maybe) and a spoon or spatula. All they have to do is throw in a few simple ingredients, and they have homemade goodies!
With this idea, you get to use your imagination again. Fill it with hot cocoa mix (store bought or use the recipe I’m including, to make a big batch for more than one of these). Top it off with mini marshmallows, peppermint, chocolate chips, or anything you can think of for added flavor! Decorate the jar with material, string, stir stick, and/or directions for making the cocoa!
- 2 cups nonfat dry milk.
- 1 cup powdered sugar.
- 1 cup chocolate chips. (optional, or mix 2 different flavors for variety)
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder.
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste).
Place all the ingredients in a food processor and pulse until the chips have mixed in with the powder. Store in an airtight container. It will stay fresh for 6 months.
To make a mug of hot cocoa, add two or three teaspoons of mix in to a mug, top with steaming hot water or milk. Stir until dissolved, top with marshmallows, enjoy!
Cookies in a Jar
There are a lot of cookie in a jar recipes on line that you can easily make. Or come back here and read my blog post for a few that are all in one place! Decorate the finished jar the same way the hot cocoa one was decorated.
Pins, Pens, Notepads, etc.
The pins she got were usually Christmas themed. Pens are something easy to find and give! Maybe include a notepad with it, tied together with a cute bow! The to-do-list notepads with magnets on the back come in handy, too! Yes, a lot of people already have them, I’m sure, but give them this and they’ll be ready to go when the current one runs all!
Refrigerator magnets are a useful idea, too! Teachers could even use these in their classroom, too! Bus drivers and mail people could hold papers or pictures in one place in their vehicle.
Think of things that YOU would like, or that would come in handy! I’m thinking mini flashlight, a combo tool, or something like that.
You also can’t go wrong with gift cards! Just don’t think it has to be a huge amount! A Starbucks gift card will let them pamper themselves, Amazon Cards can be used to purchase (or add to) something they might have been thinking of getting anyway!
I hope this list helps!
